| Update on Jacob Theisen Submitted By: Jane Schneider | Just wanted to share the great news about my nephew, Jacob Theisen (snowboarding accident 3/23/12) and thank everyone again for all of your prayers. This is truly a miracle story. The doctors did not expect him to live through the first night and did not have very high hopes of recovery. Jacob was transferred to RIO (Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon) only two weeks ago. He is beating all of the odds of recovery and walked on his own two days ago. He has been undergoing physical and occupational therapy and also speech therapy. He will hopefully be released May 8 to go back to his apartment and outpatient therapy. My brother and his wife will stay with him as long as it takes for him to live safely on his own and expect a full recovery but still a mountain to climb! I wish you could all meet him. You would understand why he is beating the odds!!! One of the most unique guys I know! Very inspirational! You never know what life has in store for you – cherish every minute of every day!!! My family believes that it has been all of the prayers from all of Jacob’s connections all over the world that has made the difference. Thank you!!! | 05-02-2012 |

| Update on Jamie Graetz (and family) Submitted By: Jody Graetz | After our vehicle accident in August we are still in recovery mode. However, with each pain or struggle comes the time of praise when we realize we could be missing one of our family. We are thankful that the Lord spared each of us. Jamie is continuing to go to the doctor. He will probably have another operation this summer for the inside of his nose-the doctor looked at the x-rays again and pronounced the bones in the lower part of his forehead as "hamburger" that will not have healed yet, so before further procedures he needs more months to heal. He also has back and shoulder pain, along with trouble hearing, and at times remembering. Please pray with us that these things are temporary. Megan, who suffered a concussion, is doing so much better remembering and functioning day to day. Mollie and I continue with the physical therapy exercises at home; if we don't do them as often as we should we are in pain. Nathan continues to do well. Thank you for all your continued prayers. We know that has made the difference for us. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." | 03-25-2012 |

| Update on Mali, W Africa Submitted By: Rachel K | This is an update from Mali from Non-Alliance missionaries but it gives a good idea of what is going on there. Rachel Two weeks ago we sent information from a Baptist mission in Northern Mali, here is an update. Thanks so much for continuing to pray. Dear prayer partners, I just realized it has been almost two weeks since I wrote you last. Many of you have asked what has happened to the professor/director of the Bible school in Gao. So I guess it is time to update you a bit. Actually lots has happened in the two weeks. The Junta who took over the government has not followed the requests of ECOWAS. Economic sanctions have been put on Mali causing the borders to close, prices to rise and goods to become scarce. ECOWAS said that if the president resigned and the Junta stepped down they would lift the sanctions and help set up elections. The president did resign, but the Junta did not step down. So it appears this could be a long seige. Another development during these two weeks was that the rebels (actually four different groups) from the Sahara region took control of three cities in as many days--Kidale, Timbuctu and Gao. They seceded from the country of Mali and set up an Islamic state called Azawad. In effect, they have cut the country of Mali in half. The believers of this area--and many others from those cities as well--have been fleeing for their lives. Many, many arrived in Bamako without anything but the clothes on their backs. The Bamako Christians are taking care of them--housing, feeding, clothing etc.--but most of the believers themselves are living way below poverty level. They all are trusting God for their next meal, literally, and could really use your prayers. Here is the last letter we received from Dr. & Mrs. MOHAMED-IBRAHIM YATTARA. It was written last Sunday, Easter. Greetings to all, We made it safe and sound to Bamako today on this blessed day of Easter. We left Gao on Friday, the same day, the rebellion officially proclaimed the republic of Azawad. The trip was very difficult, the bus is for 50 people but were 129 people in the bus. We were hardly breathing. Two women fell down in a faint. I just cannot describe what I saw in the bus. But I was happy to stay one day after the family left because I was able to walk in the city, talk to people and meet with 3 Al Qaeda fighters. Actually they were very friendly. They came to the bus station looking for food but they don't speak any local language. I had to translate and explain that they are looking for bread and eggs. They allowed people to take their pictures and ask questions. The big problem is that every day a new group comes to town looking for his share of the cake. A new group visited again the Bible Institute. The men heavily armed were driving 5 Toyota pickups. They said they came for the drilling engine and the cement for building. My coworker Alassane, while I was discussing with them, called one of the chief rebel and ask for his help. The chief sent his men and told us that those men are not rebels but thieves and he gave a number to call when they come back again. We left the phone number with our guard just before we left Gao. On Thursday when we were attempting to leave Gao, they were vandalizing our church building, the pastor's house, the bookstore and the guest house. They took all the doors and the windows of the church. They took the sound system, the benches, the video projector and computer. The church was empty when I got there. They trashed the bookstore, took the eye glasses, the books and from the guest house they took the fridge, the stove, the cupboards, the furniture, etc. They did the same for the pastor's house. They left nothing as you can see on pictures. When I called Gao today, my friend told me there is no running water or electricity and the people are running away from the city by hundreds. Streets are dangerous and thieves at night break in house. The rebels destroyed the prison and all prisoners escaped. Today, we were told by pastor Douyon that they looted the church (the missionary station) and the pastor's house. Please pray and continue to pray for us as we start a new life in Bamako. We came with nothing but the warm welcome of the brothers and sisters we found on the ground was invaluable. We praise and thank God for His grace and protection. Thank you for your prayers. We still need your help and support for the days ahead. Grace and peace. Dr. & Mrs. MOHAMED-IBRAHIM YATTARA This morning Ernie talked to Pastor Youssouf (Joseph), our colleague from Kadiolo. He is in Bamako attending seminary at this time. He said that more than 140 Christians have arrived from Timbuctu alone. They are crowded into the Campus Crusade offices and any other place available--so relieved to be in the safe zone. Pray for these folks as they struggle to find the means to feed and house this many people and more seem to be coming Jan and Ernie | 04-17-2012 |
